Westley Wallace Law was a Civil Rights leader, a WWII veteran, and a historic preservationist with a degree in biology.

He is interred at LGS, and it is because of him that much of the cemetery still stands.

The Titans of West Broad Street

West Broad Street, now MLK Blvd, was the mecca of industry in Savannah, especially during the first quarter of the 1900s.

Entrepreneurial Black men and women alike owned business of all kinds, from funeral homes to music schools and grocery stores.

But the building that stood out above all others was the Wage Earners Bank. It was the first bank of its kind to reach over 1 million dollars in deposits in the entire country.
